Freelance Writing

Starting a Freelance Writing Business from Home

The writing profession can be somewhat difficult by itself, even more so when you are wanting to start your own freelance writing business directly from your home. There are more factors to consider than if you were working in a normal office or workplace, like advertising and material costs among other aspects. But by following these simple steps you could be well on your way to developing over time your very own successful writing business from the comfort of your home.

When starting to build your own freelance writing business, the very first thing on your agenda should be to build your own writing portfolio, which would be where you store different samples of your writing, whether it'd be, e-books(electronic books), ghost stories, articles, editorials, etc. When we find ourselves with at least a small collection of all or some of this material, we then organize it and define the type of writer we're going to be (as there are different types of writers such as technical writers, medical writers, web content like blogging and others, and resume writers).

After we have collected and defined our work, we then proceed to begin our search of clientele. A great way to find this clientele is via internet. The internet has become a very demanding way of clients to search for authors and writers who are willing to write and work for them. This is why it is vital to have a collection of our work ready for inspection and review by other future clients. Some internet sites will even pay you on the spot for having worked for them and liking your work.

Among some of these sites are:
• Helium
• Associated Content
• Textbroker
• Suite 101

Besides these and other websites, you yourself can build your own home business website with the necessary tools and techniques mainly using HTML tutorials and software.

While simultaneously building our business and writing for our beginning clientele, we should also find ways to market our articles and business through a series of ways. Also, it should be one of our main tools when having a freelance writing business. One way to market our business and articles is precisely through the sites and clientele who search for our writings, due to the fact that some of them keep your work and post it right on their site, enabling other writers, clients and publishers to view and critique your work for possible job opportunities.

Another technique to effectively market our business is to use the technique of the link. If possible, at the end of our work and articles, we could include one or several links leading to more exposure of more of our work.

Among these two hints to market our freelance writing business, other helpful hints could be the writing style in itself, correct grammar, and common keywords that will be used inside popular search engines.

Following these simple steps, slowly but surely all of us writers will be able to build the freelance writing business we always wanted and be able to enjoy it in the comfort of our homes.

(And this is a perfect example of me giving a freelance writer a chance to get published.  It's a little rough, but a goo start for them)
