Finding Loans for African American Women

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

The last few decades the number of African American women who participate actively in the business and general economical and financial life of the US is increasing, bringing a new wind of change to many aspects of the business life. One of the major changes that have been observed is women's ability to apply and take loans more easily.

Whether looking for a capital to start a business, or enhance its performance, since many women are involved in the field of engineering, PR or marketing, or seeking to buy a house, there is an array of loans and loan givers today for African American women.

American and International organizations, profit or non profit, favor the African American Women, supporting their engagement in business of efforts to succeed personally. This is why there are many loans given to them, with relatively better conditions and rates. These organizations announce their grants online and inform all public offices so women who are interested in examining the option can always look on the Web, or ask at a local public office.

There is a wide selection of projects supporting African American Women run by the Government. The majority of fields of public sectors provide generous loans to American citizens or legal immigrants, mostly African American Women and Latin women; however their number is somewhat limited. This a big disadvantage because sometimes the projects close soon after they are announced due to the vast demand and the great number of applications, so whoever is interested has to keep up closely with the announcements.

Banks and several financial institutions also give loans more easily now to African American women, especially those who ask for business loans. The creditability and reliability of African American Women who work as entrepreneurs or run businesses is not questioned any more, especially since most of them hold better credit scores than their male colleagues.

Of course in every coin there are two sides and this rule applies here as well. The fact that banks give loans to more and more African American women, doesn't mean that the conditions are good. There are many studies and statistics, run by official consumer federations in the US, that prove that women are victims of discrimination based on their color, which reflects to either the payoff time or the interest rates, which are higher than in the loans given to white people or men.

If you like numbers, here are some interesting facts:  32% of African American women are granted loans with higher interest rates than men. 50% of those men have either less income or lower credit score, or even worse, both. The average interest rate in a mortgage taken by women is 7-9% while for men the same rate would be 5-6%.

It seems that the ongoing recession and limitation of granted loans under the current circumstances, affects women more and definitely disproportionally. Many groups supporting women's rights and mostly of those who are black, are already addressing questions in order to find out the reasons of the discrimination, trying to achieve better terms for the women that deserve them.
