International
Federation of University Women Fellowships and Grants
IFUW and its national affiliates
help to build the future by offering fellowships and grants to enable women
and girls to achieve their educational goals. While the numbers of women
entering university now equals or exceeds that of men in some countries,
in other parts of the world a university education is beyond the reach
of most women. For many women, a primary or secondary education remains
an unattainable dream. Even where parity at the level of the first university
degree has been achieved, there is still a pyramid effect. The numbers
of women begin to dwindle dramatically in advanced degree courses and women
are significantly underrepresented in many of the scientific and technological
fields that lead to the higher paying professions in today's world.
