How To Not Over Sell"You Don't Need a Hammer to Break an Egg!"by Rebecca Game
Are you over doing it a bit? Check your web sites and see! Your business should be clear and to the point. Too much is just that...TOO much. You can
crack an
egg, (customer) with just a little pressure, (your content and design).
Don't make your site "overwhelming". Not only is it hard for "newbies"
to follow along but it is too much for someone to The only reason DW is so large is because I try to promote all of you!, BUT...if I had a "business on the web" for say, my mural painting, this is exactly what would be contained in that web site and no more: 1. My Introduction page explaining what I do and what is included within my site. 2. A Portfolio of my mural work.(Because I would want them to SEE what I can do, I would want them to go here first so I could grab their attention) 3. A section listing all the services I offer in the way of "art" only! (To answer any questions that were already forming in their mind about, "I wonder if she does...?") 4. A Section of helpful painting "how to's" along with some charts of "how to measure a room", "how to know how much paint to buy", "a handy 'before you start', supply and tool checklist and lastly some helpful "do's and don'ts of painting. (Because this just INSURED that viewer that I KNOW my stuff. That means that I have just gained their confidence. If they had any doubts about me, some of those doubts were just alleviated with this section) 5. A questionnaire for them to post their "how do I..." questions. 6. The FAQ board to see all the expert advice I gave them as a professional muralist/painter. 7. Contact Information page with ALL of my info. (A way to contact me would also be on every page) ALSO on this page, would be a way to receive an "automatic message", (via autoresponder) where they could receive my "contact info, my pricing structure, and my terms of contract". And that's it!! No pages of links that weren't even related to my business. No Banners or ads that were not "complimentary" to my business. And not a LOT of other pages that were essentially "useless' for my business success! So in closing... It does not take a Hammer to crack an Egg!!! Rebecca Game
