First
let's just take a look inside your web pages. How are your meta-tags? Are
they overloaded with waxy words that don't even pertain to your web site?
Your meta tags should give a good description of what your business is
about. Poor meta tags can cause poor ratings in the search engines.
A meta tag is what the search engines use to "categorize" your web site.
Search engines read your meta tags and then "compare" them to the content
that is within THAT page.
1. Make sure your
keywords pertain to that particular page. This is going to take a teeny
bit of exercise on your part but well worth it in the end.
2. Make sure your
keywords are also within the content on that page.
3. Focus on keyword
"phrases" instead of just "single" words. When people are looking for a
florist, they might also type in, : Florists in Nantucket, or Fresh Flowers.
Your keywords meta tag should include this:
<meta name "Keywords"
content ="fresh flowers,flowers,flowers in nantucket,fresh florals>
4. Your "description
tag" should also contain your keywords and keyword phrases.
5. Your "title tag"
should be easy to understand and be descriptive of what that page is about.
If that page is about "cutting flowers", then your title tag and description
tag should reflect that exactly!
Okay enough about
tags, you get the picture. The next most important thing is proper placing
of your listings. You should submit your web pages in the proper categories.
Most search engines and directories want to list you in the right place
so that visitors and viewers can find you! Nothing is worse than to be
searching for candles and see a web site listing called auto sales. This
is a waste of time for both you and the viewer looking for something specific.
Be specific in choosing the right category for your web site biz.
Don't submit your
web site to a bunch of search engines that only a few people use. The major
search engines and directories will bring you all the hits you can handle
if you get the proper placing and have improved your meta tags for proper
placement making you very easy to find.
Adding sex words
is NOT the answer! Is that the type of customers you are looking for? Then
why add those words just to get a higher listing? If I am looking to increase
my sales, I don't want to attract a bunch of perverts looking for something
else! DON'T try all the scams that people tell you work. They DON'T work.
They only get you banned from the search engines. DON'T copy other people's
meta tags! This will just get you in trouble for copyright violations.
