Search Engine Ranking Equals Website Success
So you are not a rocket scientist when it
comes to Internet speak? That's okay as you don't have to be but nor do
you have to abandon all hopes of having your website rank high in search
engines.
Take a cryptic look at the situation.
You do not have to be highly technical
to increase your ranking with search engines. All it takes is a little
knowledge and a certain amount of common "computer" sense. Begin with your
homepage and work from there.
Your homepage sets the stage for your entire
site. The most important keywords and/or phrases should always appear on
the title bar of your homepage. Start things off properly from the get
go!
Now look at your links and the corresponding
title bars. They should all include relevant keywords but keep them to
a minimum of six words (or less would be even better) in order to maintain
clarity and simplicity for visitors.
Website content is another consideration.
Content is a great deal more important than fancy pictures or graphics.
And content means text. Text needs keywords to be effective so choose your
keyword very carefully! There is no room for sloppiness after all!
Text is what customers/searchers use on
search engines to find particular sites. Make your text more valuable than
your graphics and people will flock to see what you are selling. This is
an important lesson to learn.
Text on a website can be in either graphic
or HTML format. People will more than likely not purchase your products
solely based on your nice designs and pictures. It's your words that they
will read and base their final decision on. To find out which format you
have, position your cursor in the proper spot and attempt to highlight
a few select words. If your computer doesn't allow it then you have graphic
format and need to make alternations.
Now we must look at meta tags. Contrary
to popular "Internet" belief, meta tags are not the end all and be all
of search engine rankings.
Meta tags are not terribly effective for
reaching high search engine ranking. They are a very easy code, nothing
more. But adding them into your site cannot hurt.
Go to your browser's menu bar, click on
"view" and then "source." This will reveal a window and behind that window
is the access code for your website. This will in turn let you know if
meta tags were used in the making of your site or not. It's always good
to know, one way or another.
The popularity of links is undeniable.
Search engines will yield what links are popular. And popularity is so
essential to your website's success! You can do a search as well to find
out who has chosen to link to your site. Just put in the words "free link
popularity check" and a number of site addresses will be displayed. Choose
whichever one you wish and then assess your popularity.
You don't need an expert in search engine
optimization to help increase your ranking. Just employ these easy to use
steps and make it happen for yourself.
